It is with a sad heart that I write this column for two reasons.

First, just a few days ago Bill Womble, one of our members, lost his mother to death. Many of us have lost one or both of our parents and know the great sorrow and "empty" feeling that comes when we lose a parent. May the following help ease your pain, Bill:

"Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, Where the floods overflow me. I am weary with my crying; Make haste to me O God! You are my help and my deliverer. O Lord, do not delay."

from the Psalms, by David

The second reason is that Flightmasters Club President, Brad Otts, is having health problems that make it necessary to "step down" from his position in the club. Brad is NOT leaving the club, just resigning as president. He will be at the field from time to time as weather permits and his condition improves.

Brad's life has been airplanes!

He is a highly skilled RC and full scale pilot and recently retired from his job as a corporate pilot. Too many hours at 30,000 feet looking into the sun has taken it's toll on Brad's skin. The cancer has been removed and His doctor has ordered him to stay out of the sun "for awhile". Let's hope it's just a short while!

As per the club's By-Laws, the Board of Directors will meet May 5, 2008 and appoint a replacement.

Saturday, May 3, 2008 is the date for the Flightmasters' Club Picnic!   There will be fun, food and flying!

Last year we had a lot of fun and plenty of food. Make your plans to spend the afternoon at the field. Entry fee is:

    • One FOOD dish
    • One Desert dish
    • One 2 Liter soft drink

Bring the food at 11:00 and we will eat and have a good time. After that ...   It's Flying Time!
