Fort Smith Air Show and the Flightmasters

The Cecil Venable Memorial Jumbo Fly-in

See below.

The Fort Smith Air Show!

What can be said about the Fort Smith Air Show?   Every other year the 188th Fighter Group brings the best Civilian aerobatic acts and some of the premier military air demo teams in the world to Fort Smith. This year the military performers were the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. The United States Navy's Blue Angels have performed here in past years as well as the United States Army's "Golden Knights" Parachute team each year. It's quite a show and according to the media, 85,000 people were in attendance this year for both days.

Again this year, as seen in the photo above, the Fort Smith Flightmasters displayed RC aircraft at the Fort Smith Air Show. The display was well received and members of the Flightmasters talked to many spectators as they viewed the aircraft.

A special thanks to Larry Madden, of the 188th Fighter Group AND a member of the Flightmasters, for obtaining meal, parking and admittance passes for the club members who displayed aircraft.   Also a special thanks to Rick Sigleer for the photos on page three.

The Cecil Venable Memorial Jumbo Fly-In

Again this year top pilots from several states came to Flightmasters Field for the annual Cecil Venable Memorial Jumbo Fly-In held each memorial day weekend. There were 30 pilots with airplanes ranging from one-quarter scale to over 40% of full scale.   All had a good time and the club almost broke even after providing lunch for all pilots both Sunday and Monday.   It was a good show and great flying and fellowship.   If you missed it, I'm sorry!
